Richland County Neighborhood Watch groups work as partners with law enforcement to reduce the opportunity for crime in their neighborhoods by reporting suspicious and criminal activities. Since 1996, over 1,000 citizens have signed up to be part of Neighborhood Watch.
Neighborhood Watch groups conduct meetings monthly, quarterly, or by newsletter as per the needs of each group.
Officers spend many hours each quarter conducting neighborhood watch meetings to educate citizens on the concerns of their neighborhood. Many resources and area agencies provide speakers for the meetings to advise and answer resident's neighborhood questions.
Along with neighborhood watch, citizens can also use the following opportunities to form partnerships with law enforcement.
Cellular Phones: Cell phones have been donated by a local agencies. The phones are programmed to ring into county and city 911 departments. Citizens may pick up these phones at the Richland County Sheriff's Office located at 597 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, Ohio.
