The purpose of the Richland County Dog Warden’s Office and Adoption Center is to function
primarily as an animal control organization and facility under the provisions set forth in the
Ohio Revised Code, while also increasing the number of adopted dogs through greater public
awareness. The staff are dedicated to the promotion of public safety, responsible pet
ownership, reducing pet overpopulation and the humane treatment of animals.
What the RCDW provides:
Microchipping
Sales of dog licenses
Educational talks/speaking about dog safety and care
A safe place for dogs while waiting for their owners
Enforcement of the ORC 955 regarding dogs
Volunteer opportunities
A 24-hour response line to emergency calls
Adoptable dogs
Our adoption fees are:
$50 for dogs who have been in the shelter for over 1 year
$175 for all other dogs
That includes the spay/neuter, deworming, first round of
vaccines, microchip and current year dog license.
